Prioritizing our 'Future Self' helps us move beyond immediate gratification or short-term pressures, fostering foresight and intentionality. This practice builds discipline, reduces potential future regret, and empowers us to actively shape the career and life we aspire to. Even the smallest investment in your future self compounds over time, yielding significant returns in skills, opportunities, and well-being.


Where to start? Examples for Your Future Self:


The 'small action' will look different for everyone. Consider what your Future Self (looking back a year from now) would be most grateful you started or did today. Here are some ideas tailored to different career stages:

  • For New Entrants to the Workforce:


    • Learn a Foundational Skill: Dedicate 30-60 minutes to an online tutorial for a core industry tool (e.g., mastering a specific software feature, a basic coding concept, or a data analysis technique).


    • Document a Small Win: Take 5 minutes to note down a specific accomplishment or positive feedback you received. Your future self will thank you during performance reviews or when updating your resume.


    • Initiate One Informational Chat: Identify someone whose career path or role you admire and send a brief, polite email requesting a short (15-20 minute) virtual coffee to learn from their experience.
