This week's action: The "Async-First" Filter.
For every meeting on your calendar this week that doesn't have a clear decision-making agenda, send the "Pre-Brief" script. Ask the organizer to record a 2-minute update or share a document 24 hours in advance.
Why this matters: Your presence is a premium asset. When you attend a meeting without an agenda, you are giving away your most valuable resource for free.
By forcing the "Async-First" approach, you allow an AI note-taker to summarize the context for you. You can then review the transcript in 3 minutes rather than sitting through 60 minutes of crosstalk. This shifts your role from "listener" to "decider."
How to execute the Async-First Filter:
The Script: Send this to the organizer: I want to make sure I’m fully prepared to contribute. Can you share the specific decision we need to reach or a 2-minute Loom update by EOD tomorrow?
The AI Triage: If they send a recording or a doc, run it through your AI tool with this prompt: Summarize the 3 key tension points and any direct questions for me. Ignore the small talk.
The Decline: If the summary shows your input isn't needed for a decision, decline the meeting. Tell them: I’ve reviewed the update and my input is [X]. Please move forward without me and I’ll check the AI summary for the outcome.
